How SoPlayer Started

We started SoPlayer because we were tired of paying $150+ a month for cable and only watching a handful of channels. Like most cord-cutters, we wanted sports (NBA, NHL, NFL, UFC, Premier League), movies, news, and international content — but not at the price cable companies were charging.

The breaking point came during a Leafs playoff run. Between the main TV package, the sports add-on, and the "premium" tier just to get 4K, the bill was laughable. And honestly? The picture still froze during overtime. We looked at each other and said, "There has to be a better way."
